YouTube Reviews

These videos are all YouTube videos that are showing you how to do different activities in various ways.

This YouTube Video is called "How To Get Better Interview Audio | 4 Cinematic Tips".

The video is structured into 3 main bits of footage. The first segment seems to be an introduction to the video and what the audience are going to see plus the people who are going to be in the video. Then they go into their 4 tips to get better interviews. There are a couple of things that I learnt from these tips which was where to place your boom mic and lavalier on the person that you are interviewing. The boom/rifle mic should be 8 inches above their forehead and the lavalier should be in the centre of their chest, if the mic gets uncentred then the sound is uneven and makes for a difficult interview if they turn their head a lot.

After they give out the four tips the people in the video give a brief outline about what they have said and then they finish off the video.

They have used a variety of shots and angles throughout the video. The majority of the time there were either slow motion shots or mid shots of the two main people who were in the video telling the 4 tips.

Their sound quality is really well done and it seems like they are using lavalier microphones and a boom at the same time, which was one of their tips in the video. They have edited over themselves talking from one shot over some other footage, which makes it a little less boring for the people watching the video. They also include some music in it as well and they make some subtitles at some points when they are saying a tip. The tip has been condensed into a few words so then the audience can understand the main important bits of information to maybe write down or mentally note.

In my How To video I am going to try and use how they have used different types of footage within their video to keep the audience all interested in what is happening.

This YouTube video is called "How To Record A Song From Scratch: Vocals".

This video isn't really structured by different types of footage, the guy in the video only has one angle when he is talking. When he starts to record onto the software he then shows the computer screen that shows the audience what top do when they get to his stage.

You can tell that he is recording all of his audio on the microphone that he is trying to explain to his audience. The room that he is recording in has a little bit of dead space which then causes reverb which you can hear throughout the video.

There isn't really any transition edits or anything that would be classed as interesting or entertaining for the audience. He is constantly moving around and making arm gestures however there are no clear edits that are happening to make it entertaining as well as informative.

In terms of what I have seen in this video and putting some elements in to my How To video I am just going to use how he manages to screen record how he records his audio from the microphone to the software that he uses on his computer.
